Florida has become a hub for Salesforce experts, learners, and evangelists. This is why Florida Dreamin’ was such a compelling event for those involved in the Salesforce ecosystem.
As a Salesforce MVP, I’m always excited to be involved in the Salesforce community and attend, and present, at as many Salesforce gatherings possible.
Florida Dreamin’ was a huge success this year. Here are some of the most memorable moments from this year’s Florida Dreamin’.
The Increasing Salesforce Skills Gap
Florida Dreamin’ took place over two days starting on the 1st of November, at the Wyndham Resort, Orlando. The conference had more than 20 sponsors and 30 sessions, as well as a demo jam, keynote speech, and even had a snake and a gator!
As with any Salesforce conference, the sense of Ohana was strong and Florida Dreamin’ was no different. One of the themes that ran throughout the conference was the growing skills gap in the Salesforce ecosystem, and what needs to be done to help the community to grow. In that vein, the event seemed to take on more of a focus on career development and skill cultivation than the standard Salesforce community conference.
One of the sessions I attended drew particular attention to Trailhead4Students. This unique Salesforce program guides college students through a four-week course of fundamental classes in Salesforce environments. Throughout that month, students are responsible for completing various Trailhead courses to expand their skills. There’s even a virtual class at the end of each week that recaps what they have learned in the Trailhead Modules, taught by community educators like me.
If you are interested in becoming a community educator for the Trailhead4Students program, please reach out, I am happy to help.
Expanding Education with myTrailhead
The Trailhead4Students experience wasn’t the only educational innovation to appear at Florida Dreamin’. “myTrailhead” was also a popular topic in conversations about how customized learning will change the future for Salesforce representatives.
I believe that myTrailhead is going to be a game changer. Not only does it give employers a chance to enhance their employees’ knowledge through immersive content, but you can also add and customize your own learning experiences. The myTrailhead experience comes with options to create and brand unique learning content. Employers can even gamify the learning process with badges and points and offer simple bite-sized learning solutions.
My Florida Dreamin’ Session
The spirit of ongoing education and community empowerment paved the way for a great reception to my own session “Learn to Empower the Next Generation of Trailblazers.”
As a Salesforce professional, I’ve seen just how vital the community is to the growth of this industry. During my session, I addressed the audience with an insight into the need for education and support in a new technology environment. The discussion guided attendees through a journey into the careers of myself, and my co-presenter Jean Velonis.
We spoke about how we emerged into the Salesforce ecosystem, and what it took for us to get to where we are today. Though I became something of an accidental Salesforce admin in 2010, I quickly developed my skills through Community Groups, and Certification Study Groups, . Now, I’m even helping to educate future Salesforce stars in the community.
BeLunar and the Uplink App
Florida Dreamin’ didn’t just highlight the importance of education to the Salesforce community; it also demonstrated what’s possible when we empower the right people. Be Lunar showed off their new application Uplink at the Demo Jam and won the top spot. Uplink allows Sales and Service users to natively send SMS to contacts in their Salesforce network with a traditional messaging system.
The app ensures that you can text directly from your cell phone’s native messaging system, without downloading anything. What’s more, you can keep track of all the SMS conversations that take place in Uplink, because they are stored in the Salesforce platform.
Discover the Power of the Salesforce Community
The Florida Dreamin’ conference was a fantastic example of what’s possible when a community comes together to innovate.
For me, the biggest takeaway from the event was this: innovators need to continue submitting sessions to these Salesforce community conferences. Whether you’re focusing on the career side of things and how to develop a career with Salesforce, or you want to create some hands-on workshops, be a part of your community.
It’s the people in the Salesforce ecosystem that make it one of the fastest-growing and most innovative brands in the world.
