Salesforce’s annual Dreamforce conference is only 6 days away, and at RelationEdge we’re busy getting ready to attend this impactful event. The three-day-long conference in San Francisco will be a whirlwind of inspiration, lessons, and insights coming from some of the brightest minds in the Salesforce ecosystem.
As a Salesforce MVP, I’ve attended Dreamforce before and one thing I’ve learned is that if you don’t plan ahead, it’s easy to miss some of the best sessions amid the hubbub.
Here are some tips to help you plan to make the most out of your time at Dreamforce 2018.
Use the Agenda Builder
The Agenda Builder tool is now live, so you can start planning your schedule today. This is a great tool for searching and selecting sessions. If you’re unsure of what to attend, try the new Einstein Recommends feature — it will make recommendations for sessions and events that may be most relevant or interesting to you.
Best of all, Agenda Builder will sync sessions you’ve selected to your calendar making it easy to keep track of your entire schedule, from keynotes in the morning to cocktail parties in the evening.
Familiarize Yourself With the Area
Before you arrive, familiarize yourself with the area ahead of time as best you can, so you know where you need to be each day and the best way to get there. Get familiar with the street names, landmarks, and venue locations such as Moscone, InterContinental, Palace Hotel, and Westin St. Francis.
Don’t forget to make note of where to grab your badge. The conference officially opens on Tuesday, September 25th with breakout sessions kicking off at 8am. Most attendees will arrive Monday, September 24th for badge pickup beginning at noon — closing at 8pm at select locations, including Moscone.
Where do you want to go after getting your badge? Is there a particular session you want to attend or will you be looking to grab a coffee? Think about this ahead of time, and plan your route to get from badge pickup to your first stop. This way, you won’t find yourself standing idly with badge in hand, pondering what to do next.
Select Events Based on Your Goals
First and foremost, your plan should be driven by your goals. It’s important to set the right expectations for yourself so you don’t feel overwhelmed or regret missing a particularly relevant event to your career and professional growth.
As you browse the available sessions on Agenda Builder, think about each one from a perspective of how it can benefit you or your company, who you’ll be able to network with, and what you hope to get out of it. Here are some recommendations.
Hands-On Training Sessions
Are you looking to enhance your skills or product knowledge? If so, find a relevant hands-on training session and attend the relevant Product Keynote on that subject matter. You can even sign up to earn a new certification while you’re at Dreamforce.
If you are new to Salesforce and you play more of a strategic role in your organization, I recommend seeking out an Industry Keynote. Product and Industry Keynotes will be taking place all day, from 8am-6pm. Look for additional industry-focused sessions you can benefit from, and sign up to attend a Circles of Success to collaborate with like-minded attendees.
I’m looking forward to the Parker Harris’ True to the Core: What’s Next for Our Core Products. This is an annual favorite to attend, and this year it will be held in the Marriott Marquis at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, 9/26.
The following keynotes are also of interest and are being held in Moscone North Hall D:
- Einstein AI Keynote, Wednesday 9/26, 12pm
- Integration Keynote, Wednesday 9/26, 2pm
Customer Success Expo
Make time to visit the Customer Success Expo. Create a list of vendors that you’d like to learn more about, and take the time to see a demo.
