Salesforce hosted their first ever Developer Conference last week in San Francisco, it was held June 7th & 8th! Developer and Salesforce User Groups globally hosted with LIVE watch parties, and here are some highlights from the June 7th keynote.
If you have been fortunate to hear Peter Coffee, VP for Strategic Research at Salesforce and keynote opener, speak over the past few years, you’ve heard some staggering stats about the state of the workforce, jobs that will soon be obsolete as well as those “jobs” that will emerge as we continue to evolve with technology. Salesforce is empowering their Community, specifically the Developer Community with training and tools to become a force to be reckoned with.
Salesforce has gamified training with the introduction of Trailhead. This amazing enablement tool was launched at Dreamforce ‘14! For those who do not know, Trailhead is a new approach to learning Salesforce by selecting a learning path via a trail, or module that takes you through a topic and tests you through knowledge checks. In the end you earn a badge that can be prominently displayed on your Community Profile. It’s a great tool to introduce to NEW Trailblazers to!
Marc Benioff announced the creation of the Lightning Fund to finance ideas generated from this event that can be acted upon. Salesforce is also providing real estate in the form of an incubator located in San Mateo. The premise is to continue to add value to the ecosystem, create and nurture learning for a new type of Developer for the next generation of their platform. Take the ideas and feedback from this event and turn them into commercial reality and great new companies.
Alex Dayon, Salesforce President and Chief Product Officer stated that today Salesforce is 8 clouds one platform that gets smarter, some examples include:
- Journey Builder – Build 1-1 customer journeys
- Thunder IoT Cloud connect all your data & devices – join streams and output action
- MetaMind to further deep learning via AI – most recent acquisition
Lightning dominated a good portion of the keynote, Shawna Wolverton, VP Product Management, Platform at Salesforce.com presented:
